Event Details :The Harvard Biotechnology Club is holding the annual "Venture Capital Outlook in Life Sciences 2009" with the HBS Healthcare Club and The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE)-Boston on the evening of March 11. This is an event where real-life pitches will be presented to VCs in front of the audience. We are looking for entrepreneurs with decently developed ideas, have never pitched to VCs and would like to pitch your ideas to a panel of VC's in front of the audience. Areas of interests are biotech, medtech, and diagnostics. We will help you organize your presentation prior to the event. Pitch will include a 7-minute presentation plus 3-minute Q&A. If you are interested, please email Angela (angela@thebiotechclub.org) and include your companies' founders' names & backgrounds; description of your start-up company; funding history and status; and any other information that will help us pick your company to pitch at this event. This is a great learning and net-working experience - you may also end up with funding!

Blue Ocean Strategy Webinar

This is the third session of the series that we are doing as part of the training program for the National University Startup Competition. Dinner with Seth Goldman, CEOand Founder, Honest Tea

Event Details :Seth Goldman returns to speak to us after ten years. At that time he had quit his job at the Calvert Fund and founded Honest Tea, a company, located in Bethesda, MD, selling organic beverages. Honest Tea has made quite some progress in the interim. It has broadened its product line, and is one of the fastest-growing young companies in the country. Last year may have been problematical for the economy in general. For Honest Tea it was magical. Coca Cola bought 40% of the company for $43 million, and one of the presidential candidates, Barak Obama, discovered the product - a priority job of advance people was to make sure that some Honest Tea was always available as the campaign traveled around the country. This event is fully accessible. About the speaker Sal Perisano, ALM ’87, has served as a director of iParty Corporation since October 1998 and its Chief Executive Officer since April 1999. Previously, Sal was a member of the board of directors of The Big Party Corporation from 1992–2000 and its president and chairman of the board from 1992–98. In 1981, he co-founded Videosmith, which became Boston’s dominant video retailer before being sold in 1989 to Xtravision PLC. Sal stayed on as a director and was later named chief executive officer of the parent company, which was subsequently acquired by Blockbuster Video.
